The blog has been pretty empty in 2022, as I’ve changed timezone and country, and not played many RPGs. But I’m getting slowly back into the swing of it again, and as I’m doing that I realised it’s the same time of year I’ve been writing what I want to play next. After two years of lockdown-triggered online experiments, the real world beckons.

So, compared to last year, I have finally run a session of TROIKA!, which does indeed turn out to be very silly. The others though, have not had any takers. The RPG players I’m meeting in person are much more keen on 5e, and that’ll be what I start playing again very soon. I’d very much like to play:

  1. Adventures in Middle Earth. Still. Come on, Rings of Power is out…
  2. The Black Hack. Still. Maybe it’s the sweet spot between Into The Odd and OSE in complexity? I’m looking to play 5e in person, and ugh there are so many rules.
  3. Stars Without Number. Yeah I bought a nice bound version of this. And I’ve never had a proper go on Traveller. I also bought WWN, but SWN appeals for a campaign in a way Mothership does not.

I’d also very much like to buy:

I might need an intervention. I definitely still need to pay my mortgage.

Honourable Mentions

I also never wrote up the Wolves of God game as I was a player, however our GM did. I also tried playing some of the beta tests for Realms of Peril, another OSR-type RPG. I don’t want this past year to look too forlorn, I’ve definitely got some games in.
